The town has a super historical centre. The important church of St. Androche,early 12th century has some very important sculptured capitals. The museum of Francois Pompon, in a 17th century mansion boasts a fine collection of sulpture .

The town has a train station and good road links. Saulieu enjoys good health facilities. There is a library and a good selection of schools in the area. It has a campsite,tourist office and interesting cultural events.
